MY TUESDAY TRUTH

Over the last 2 years Ive decided to cut out meat, poultry, gluten and dairy from my diet. My decision was based primarily on personal health reasons and a strong disgust for the way animals are treated in factory farms.

I'm an imperfect pescatarian. I slip sometimes. & there are times when the “cheese plate” wins. There are times at social gatherings when meat is the only main course and my hunger pangs give in & even when the chocolate lava cake just so happens to overflow into my mouth....ahhh sugar - so good yet so bad.
90% of the time I make the right choices for me. Yes me, not you - not them.. For me.

So, why judge me when I choose a salad over meat? Why judge me when I kindly decline an alcoholic drink or cookie from the office party? Can you let me be?!

I cant tell you how many times Ive had people tell me “You are making me feel guilty” or “Its just a taste” or “You are no fun”… I'm sorry, but when did eating a certain food equate to fun?

I'm judged from others for treating my body good & choosing health first. Weird huh? No matter how many times I get weird looks when I'm guzzling down a green smoothie, I feel good knowing I'm doing what’s best for me and my body. I don’t push my lifestyle on anyone, if you want to join in with me then kudos to you for making the healthier choice. I don’t preach & I don’t like confrontation. Imagine every time you took a bite of your burger I would make a comment like “Ugh, you are killing yourself” or “Wow, that is gross”! Imagine how annoying that would be…

So todays rant is just that. A rant. Take what you want from it but I hope if you are one of those who comment about others eating habits, maybe you will think before you speak.

Everyone is entitled to their own. Don’t knock another because its not your way.....

& on that note…. Its time for a salad. Good Day!

HOW TO TUESDAY

This is one of my favorite make up looks - the winged liner and red lip combo. Universally flattering on any skin color and any age. Its Old Hollywood meets Parisian girl. Marilyn Monroe meets Scarlett Johansson - to me its the epitome of sexy for a very special occasion.

Although flattering, its not easy to replicate. Those who dare try on their own can teeter on well, clown face.... while others teeter on street walker. You need to find a balance when wearing these together. The key here is to keep the eye liner minimal and blot blot blot those lips to lessen the intesnisty of the red.

I absolutely love this sultry look. Ive added some how to's below for you to try, let me know how it goes!

TIP: Try your local Sephora for free samples of different reds to play with before settling on "the color".
TIP #2: Lightly sweep/blot on gold toned gloss in the middle part of your pout to enhance your lips as well as lightly dust on a nude shimmer on your cupids bow for an extra pout effect.

ARE YOU READY?

12 weeks, yes 12 weeks till you are sporting tank tops, shorts and bathing suits. If you eat clean and train on the regular this should be no sweat to the healthy fitters. But if you have been rewarding yourself all winter with food - well than you have the next 12 weeks to pull yourself together, clean out your pantry and get your butt to the gym and WORK!

Make the commitment to yourself. Consistency is key. Stay focused and follow through on your promises to yourself. You can do it.
Here are some tips on getting your 12 week lifestyle uhaul moving!

1) Plan your meals, cook on Sunday evenings and prepare every meal for the week

2) Eat Clean. Less preservatives more fresh colorful food on your plate

3) Hire a trainer – spending money on your health is the best investment.

4) If you cant hire a trainer, get a workout buddy and treat your workouts like important meetings. DON’T CANCEL!

5) Clean out all the junk in your kitchen, stock up with local market finds (veggies/Produce)

6) Hang motivational quotes up in your home and office

7) Make weekly short term goals

8) Surround yourself with positive people and let your friends and family know your mission

10) You can do it. Think good thoughts and be proud of each accomplishment.

Good Luck everyone!

LITTLE BIT OF THIS & A LITTLE BIT....

Happy Monday Fitters! This weekend was a relaxing weekend for me. I was able to get some studying in, cleaning and a workout in each day this weekend. Doesn't sound relaxing to some, but accomplishing tasks to better myself is what relaxes me. The more prepared and organized I am the better my week is. Here are a few of my weekend highlights:

Top Left Box - PHENOMENAL FIND - The dress in the top left box stole my heart. A Chloe Resort Collection, Silk Navy and Ivory Shan Tung retailed for $1,800.00 (absurd) & I found it at 92% off at one of my favorite boutiques (see list under my tried & true tab). She is currently being tailored to my measurements and I cant wait to wear her proudly! Ladies, if you love a piece of clothing enough, wait till it is on sale. Classic pieces will never go out of style.  Happy wallet, Happy You!

Top Right Box - As I walked home from work, I passed this unbelievable art installation on 42nd Street, if you are in the area go check it out. Its located on 42nd street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway (closer to the Bank of America Bldg)

Bottom Right Box: This fab nude sandal by Calvin Klein, perfect heel for a pair of white skinnies and a white tank for summer. I love the look of all white with tan leather heels, belt and bag – Nothing more chic than a fresh nautical look.

Bottom Left Box - Kicked off my weekend on Friday evening with a semi private TOWER PILATES class with Marie Martino at PowerPilates. If you haven’t done a Tower Class, I highly recommend it. Not easy at all! But when you complete the class you feel like a warrior!

Workout Weekend Review:

Friday: Tower Pilates
Saturday: Treadmill & Upper Body
Sunday: Treadmill & Lower Body

With a great combination of workouts done this weekend for tonight Ill just do cardio and stretching at the gym, mixing it up with a warm up on the bike and HIT cardio on the treadmill.

I hope you had a great weekend and found time to get some workout(s) in. Today is a new day, eat clean and try to  break a sweat everyday this week. Go for a run, try a new class, hire a trainer do what you need to do to better your health. A healthy you is the best you!
