I had the pleasure of viewing on the last day of the exhibit "THE BOXER AT REST" at the Metropolitan Museum yesterday. Another reason why I love living blocks from the museums! We were in awe of the detail and expression he had, almost a pained glare looking for guidance. I attempted to take a pic here is what he looks like up close.
Back story on the statue:
Dated around 330 BC, this remarkably detailed depiction of a boxer fresh from a fight even includes
copper inlay to convey cuts to the face and ear as well as bruising under his eye and the cauliflower ear.
