PULPED UP MUFFINS

(Carrot Pulp from juicing carrots - No need to waste the Juicers Pulp)

Ingredients

 2 cups Rolled Oats
2 tablespoons ground flax seed

1 teaspoon baking soda

4 eggs

2 egg whites
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter PB2
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon low sodium sea salt
1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce OR Dash of olive oil
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
3 packets of Stevia (to taste at end when mixing)
1/4 cup water (add more if needed)
2 cups carrot pulp (don't worry if you also juiced other veggies, the more the better)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray.
Mix together all dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a small bowl, combine the liquid ingredients. Add the liquid to the dry and mix just long enough to combine.
Spoon the batter into the muffin cups--it will be very thick.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool for about 10 minutes and serve with almond butter on top.

JUICE JUICE BABY

Oh My Omega!

I 100% recommend the purchase of this juicer. Its easy to use and easier to clean :) Before going out and purchasing this bad boy, I beg of you... please watch the documentary "Fat Sick & Nearly Dead"

You will understand why I 100% recommend the purchase of this (or any) good juicer (insert koolaide smile) after watching. Pretty unbelievable. It was my inspiration.

I want to share with you a few items that I find necessary to give you the best juicing experience.

Here they are:

from clockwise

  1. Fruit & Vegetable Wash - I prefer you to by organic but if you don't, use this spray. You can buy it at your local health food store.
  2. My juicing bible Book of Juicing. It provides you with all the information you need to get started and lets you in on great recipes. This is a must!
  3. Earthrise Spirulina Natural. One scoop to your juice is equivalent to 7 servings of vegetables in terms of antioxidant content (beta-carotene).
  4. Omega Juicer - This is a fantastic machine, easy to use and clean.
  5. Cutting board and a sharp knife with a rubber grip for safety when cutting your fruits and veggies.
Happy Juicing! Let me know what you think of the documentary, have a beautiful day!

PEEPER PROTECTION

Well, its another cold wet & dreary day in Manhattan, and quite frankly I'm missing Puerto Rico!

Thankfully, Ill beheaded south to Palm Island an island off of Miami in about 7 weeks and this is the only thing getting me thru these kinds of days. Over the years Ive collected many shades but I always seem to go back to the classic Ray Ban Aviator.

I'm obsessed with the mirrored collection. They are all so chic, sexy & yet so casual.

You bet right, Ill be rocking each and everyone of these beauties. Like yummy decadent candies, the colors are just gorgeous! No matter what color hair or skin type, they will make you look great.

Keep your eyes protected in style!!!!         Which is your favorite?

FRIDAY, IM IN LOVE!

TGIF. In so many ways.

This week has been a long long week. Coming home from our vacation and getting back into routine has not been easy. Maybe it’s the holidays ending and the crunch of the new year or maybe its just that I still am in island mode. Whatever the funk it is,  I'm at the point now where I'm forcing myself to quit this mopey mood I've been in. & So.........

Its Friday, the end of another work week, the beginning of the weekend which means –  me time. Doing things for myself to get me in the best me mode possible! Ah - Me- Zing!

I’ve organized my weekend thus far:
  • Cleaning Frenzy! Yes, it may sound boring but honestly I love cleaning. Organizing my life is essential to my success and mental clarity. For starters, the closet is being revamped, the wood floors scrubbed and the rest of the house will be sanitized and glistened with the help of Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Products.
  • SoulCyle with one my best friends, Apples. Quality time with a best friend always calms the nerves, rejuvenates your spirit and always gets me smiling from within. Looking forward to some Apples time! Also feels good to workout with a friend and motivate each other :)
  • Looking forward to trying a  new recipe using Coconut Flakes Ill be making Homemade Kind Bars and a new and improved Blueberry & Vanilla protein pancake recipe. Photos and how to’s to follow in a future post.
  • Updating my Lookbook. I must confess, I have a personal journal/lookboook where I keep photos of my current pieces and outfit inspirations. If you ask nicely, Ill show you how to create a lookbook for yourself. It lets you know exactly what you have and makes it easier to pull outfits together in a time crunch. You get more use out of the pieces you have when you know what to pair it with. Its my guilty pleasure/personal StyleBible. Ive taken it shopping with me so I know exactly what I need. Sounds weird, I know. But I never claimed to be normal.

What are your plans this weekend?

xo

CLOSET THERAPY

Hello 2013! With the new year in full effect its time to reorganize. Now, if you know me, you know that my closet is my sanctuary. Well, kinda sort of.... Its getting back there. slowly but surely. (Packing for any trip leaves my closet looking like a small typhoon hit it)

See, I was blessed with an oak walk in California closet in my small NYC apartment. Numerous movable and stackable shelving with a scarf rack, hat rack, shoe display and a large area for all my accessories to breathe. Proud to admit it, I actually signed my lease in that closet (well aware that it was bigger than both my bathroom and kitchen).  What girl would refuse such a luxury in a NYC apt! 2 years later, I honestly dont know what I would do with out her (her being the most beautiful wood sectioned shelving I have ever had).

& now......(drum roll) Its come time to give her a face lift.

This weekend the shelving will be moved to make room for more shoes (eek) and my clothes will be pulled down from their color coordinated and work & play sections for donation .

Here are a few organizing revamping tips that have worked for me and hopefully you can put to good use.

Revamp Tip #1: Get rid of wire hangers. One of my favorite movie scenes to reenact - click link* I personally prefer wooden hangers with rubber coating on the ends, not only do they keep the clothes from slipping but they look gorgeous in my closet. If your short on room, buy thin felt hangers all in one color. Trust me, when your closet has matching hangers everything looks so much better.

Revamp Tip #2: Discard dry cleaning bags! When your dry cleaning comes back, immediately remove your clothes from the bags, throw out the hangers and replace with your new ones. Not only are the plastic bags bad for your clothes but they are even worse for your health. Tip - Go Green with your dry cleaning, find a local organic cleaner in your neighborhood.

Revamp #3: Donate, Donate Donate! When was the last time you wore that blazer? Those jeans that you swearrrrr one day you will fit into again? How many pashmina's do you really need?  Not only does it rid your closet of clutter but you are doing something good for others. This brings me to the next tip......

ReVamp Tip #4: MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE! Go thru the remaining clothes in your closet and do the following. Place stickers on your clothes ( I prefer the tags on the inside). Every time you wear an item take the sticker off and discard. If by the end of 2013 the sticker is still on - get rid of that item and donate!

Having less items in your closet will make it easier to pick out what to wear and actually find what it is you are looking for. You will have more options of mixing and matching and you will see what pieces are missing and which ones not to buy.

ReVamp Tip#5: Are you a chachki lover? I am! Through0ut the years, Ive collected more costume jewelry than one should.Check these bad boys out Click Here. These bracelet tiers from The Container Store are phenomenal! They keep my bracelets organized and completes the look of my closet. I also use their necklace and ring displays in black velvet, you can truly go nuts in this store.

If your pinching pennies, hang a bulletin board on your wall, stick a few thumb tacks in it (choose the clear tacks) and hang your pieces. This allows you to keep your jewelry  organized, tangle free and on display when you need to match your accessories in a time crunch.

ReVamp Tip #5: Tackle your storage needs. Best way to figure out what storage is needed is by looking at your closet on its worst possible day. When clothes are thrown, shoes are tossed and clothes are piled onto one hanger. Look for wasted space and think about storage pieces that are not only functional but appealing to the eye. Matching the storage pieces to your hanger colors or wall paint will give your closet a more built in organized  & cohesive look.

ReVamp Tip#6: Can you see and reach your items? Change or add extra lighting. You can easily purchase lighting that mounts on the wall with sticky tape for the darker areas in your closet. Throw in a step stool and paint it to match your closet for the hard to reach places. These small changes will make such a big difference.

ReVamp Tip#7: Little tips...Are you a hat collector? Hammer nails into your wall and display your hats. Shoes - If you do not keep your original shoe boxes, purchase clear stackable cases that make it easier to match your outfit with your shoe and gives your closet a cleaner look. They also protect your shoes from dust and dirt.

Last but not least ReVamp Tip #8.  Take your time & Work in sections. It's so easy to become overwhelmed if you dump all of your closet out. Don't do that - Ive done it before and I had a melt down. I suggest, putting on some music and start small. & before you know it, one section will be tackled and you will be energized to complete another or even better the rest.

Remeber to Vacuum, dust and Febreeze your closet!

Let me know how these tips work out for you and send me your before and afters! Id love to share them with the blog.

HAPPY ORGANIZING!

SUNDAY SCENTS

My two favorite perfumes:  Bond no 9 "Washington Square Park" for day &  Bond no 9  “Lexington Avenue” for night.
The right scent makes sense. When you have found products that make you feel good keep to them. Here are a few of my favorite scents that  I use daily from my home, perfume and to my lotions. I tend to switch my home scents, depending on the season but I always find myself coming back to the same ones.  I truly feel my most beautiful when I complete my look with perfume.
As Coco Chanel was once quoted: A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future.....

Johnson's Baby lotion - Believe it or not, this  is my absolute favorite for my scent base. I keep one in my shower and slather it on before I even towel dry off. Once I'm dry, I add a huge dollop of lotion to my hand and spray my perfume into the lotion and rub it from head to toe. It leaves my skin feeling super soft & adds a subtle scent that lingers all day long. For a stronger scent (once dressed) I add a spray of perfume to the inner part of my forearms and a small spray into my hair.

Laura Mercier - Creme de Pistache Souffle Body Creme is another staple in my routine. When I wear this, I cant tell you how many compliments I get and my skin is left  moisturized and glowing all day long. Its a creamy nutty soft and sweet smell. Its absolutely divine. Pricey but worth it, good for any season.

For the home: VOLUSPA. Their candles and home sprays are gorgeous. The Macaroon & Baltic Amber are my two favorites for the bedroom and living area.

Last but not least, home spray. Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbena Room Freshener is a must! I love the fresh clean smell of lemons its great for both the kitchen and living spaces.

Which are your favorite scents to wear?
