FESTIVITIES WEEKEND

The weekend has arrived! Today has got to be the busiest day this week for me - I've
been on the go since 6am running, typing, working, planning etc. Getting ready for a weekend of celebrations and appreciation!

Ill be headed out to the salon shortly to get ready for an engagement party for a friend of mine. Dancing and schmoozing along with some of my closest friends whom I consider family

Ill then be headed to New Jersey to spend time with my beautiful stepmother and family to celebrate and appreciate all of who she is!

As the weekend begins, I hope you find time to unwind and celebrate your mother, grandmother and mother figures. Make sure to let them know just how special they are to you and enjoy the moment with your loved ones.

BALLS TO THE WALL

Many Prue workout snacks require extra time to prepare, but if you prepare this recipe ahead of time it will leave more time to sweat at the gym. These protein balls offer the ideal amount of protein and carbs to fuel you for a major strength training session. Enjoy 2 about an hour before your workout.

Ingredients

1/3 cup natural peanut butter OR almond butter
1/4 cup honey or agave
1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
3 tablespoons ground flaxseeds
3 tablespoons dark chocolate chips

Directions

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Roll into 10 balls (about one heaping tablespoon per serving). Refrigerate to firm up balls, overnight for best results. & Enjoy!

Makes 10 servings

GrandMOTHER

With Mothers day around the corner I’m having mixed feelings…. My grandmother was my mother to me – she was the woman who raised me until my beautiful stepmother came into the mix in my young adult years. It’s a beautiful day to celebrate my stepmother but also a day to remember my grandmother (passed away 2010)…….

I wanted to share with you a few things my grandmother taught me growing up and I will forever keep dear to my heart (some make me laugh)….

1. Make your bed in the morning

2. Always have a fresh pair of underwear and socks available, you never know! (this one still makes me laugh)

3. Be kind to your elders

4.  Relationships take work, nothing in love is ever easy.

5. Be thankful, there are others who have it harder than you

6. Take a walk it clears the head…..

7. Chanel N. 5 Perfume, for your special occasions…..

8. Stay close with your father

9. Listening to music and dancing will keep you young

10. Always tell _____ you love them, you never know when their time is up.

Yes, I'm sitting here laughing and crying as I type this. She was a wonderful woman and you were blessed if you knew her. Let’s switch gears and turn this post into a feel good one. If you’re still looking for a mother’s day gift, below are my favorite pieces from some of my favorite online shops. I hope you make your mothers day special for your mother, grandmother or mother figure......

& WE ALL WANT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

LOVE AFFAIR

I loved NYC before, but I'm in love with NYC today.

NYC. The city I love – the city I call my intermittent home- maybe permanent one day. A city that helped me grow up and understand others ideas and personalities because there is just no room to hide from them. It’s tough love at its finest.

The diversity, the culture, the vibrancy of the city, the food, the lights, the plethora of parks, the seasons…. Seems that everything here inspires me.

& the people - We walk fast, talk fast and tend to express our opinions without a coat of sugar. No time to add nonsense or pleasantries. & most importantly - A true sense of community on so many levels....

This past weekend I visited both New Jersey and Brooklyn. I have love for both places but there is nothing better than driving back into the Tunnel into my city.

yes, I’ve travelled to other cities and countries. Ive had gelato on the Spanish Steps in Rome, threw back vodka shots and figs in Croatia, tried meat tar tar while bathing in the French Riviera, ran rampant throughout the city of Los Angeles with my best friend. For a moment these places captured my interests. But, they never captured my heart like New York City has. This is where I belong. & it feels so good…….

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and feel the same for your city/town. Nothing feels better than loving home, wherever that may be.... Wishing you a great start to your week! xo M
