SUMMER LOVIN'

 via Paris in four months...

HELLO AUGUST

Has this summer gone by faster than any summer ever before, or is it just me? Woah, hello August?

Work fills up alot of my time. I feel like I'm traveling every other weekend and the weekends I am home are spent catching up on errands and life. All of this is making me one tired working girl. Ive been hailing cabs all week, its time to chase down some summer fun and let loose.

So for this weekend, it calls for nothing but much needed fun. Beyonce at the Barclays Center on Saturday and The Beach Club with some special people in my life on Sunday. Beach Cabana's, Lobster rolls and Vitamin D will be on the menu. What are your plans for this weekend?

Remember you have exactly 30 days to squeeze in as  much summer fun as possible.

As a big-time Francophile who is  fascinated with French culture and how they approach life so differently from Americans, I was eager to pick up  La Seduction: How the French play the game of Life by Elaine Sciolino.

& by seduction ....Elaine Sciolino isn't just referring to sexual persuasion.... she draws back the curtain on French manners, explaining the seduction as more of their "charm" and how it relates to politics, fashion, temptation of scent and even the highly ritualistic dinner parties. Think of it more as finesse......Ive only dived into the first few chapters and already am hooked.

I highly recommend this book to fellow Franocphiles like myself.  Let me know if you have read this book, Id love to know your thoughts!

TOP 10 QUOTES by Princess Diana

With the arrival of the royal baby, I thought it might be nice to look back at the beloved Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997).

In memory of the late Princess, here are  few of some wise words spoken by the one and only.......

1. "I don't go by the rule book. I lead from the heart, not the head."

2. "I knew what my job was; it was to go out and meet the people and love them."

3. "People think at the end of the day that a man is the only answer to fulfillment. Actually a job is better for me."

4. "If you find someone you love in your life, then hang on to that love."

5. "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."

6. "Being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be."

7. "Only do what your heart tells you."

8. "I don't even know how to use a parking meter, let alone a phone box."

9. "Hugs can do great amounts of good - especially for children."

10. "I'd like to be a queen in people's hearts but I don't see myself being queen of this country."

BRAVO

Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something, learned something, became a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it’s a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it’s a way of making contact with someone else’s imagination after a day that’s all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”

OOH LA LA!

Parisian Products

Avène spray perfume / Byredo perfume fragrance / Antiaging skin care / Phyto / Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil Golden Shimmer / Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

The French know a thing or two when it comes to beauty.... French women take such pride in taking care of their skin, this is why they don't need pounds of makeup to cover up in.

Over the years, they've mastered the blasé gorgeous effect: bare, glowing skin; big eyes; and a nonchalant swipe of crimson lipstick. French women use beauty products to enhance their natural look and physique. With that in mind, check out my fall must have beauty products inspired by the Parisians.....

Here is my everyday makeup routine.... always remember ......less is more!

7 WAYS TO MAKE OVERNIGHT GUESTS FEEL WELCOME

Thanks to ONE KINGS LANE, I want to share with you all these small but impactful items to make your guest feel special.

1. "A few days before your friends or family get there, spend some time in the guest room—even get in the bed! Are there enough blankets? Do the pillows feel good? Most guests are too polite to complain, so you want to anticipate any potential issues beforehand.” —Susan Feldman, One Kings Lane co-founder

2. "Being a good host is all about those few, important details that let guests know you’re happy they’re there and want them to be comfortable. Pick up an issue of their favorite magazine or a new book you think they’ll enjoy. DVR the shows they love. Place clean towels on the foot of their bed and fresh flowers on the nightstand.” —
Nate Berkus, designer and author

3.“I’ll leave breath mints in the drawer, and a bottle of water by the bed. Guests who’ll be there for a few weeks get their own slippers and robe. And for people who aren’t familiar with the area, I leave a guidebook in the room to help them decide what they’d like to do while in town.” —
Kenneth Brown, designer

4. “Give them a set of spare keys on a cute key chain for the weekend so they can come and go. I’ll also set out a little ‘manual’ that includes useful stuff like the alarm code and Wifi password. Also, every nightstand should have a water carafe, a jewelry tray, an alarm clock or iPhone dock, and something fragrant like flowers or a candle.” —
Emily Henderson, designer and HGTV host

 5. “In the guest room, I always have a luggage rack—it makes unpacking easy! I’ll also fill the guest bath with comfy towels and great bath products. I’m loving
Aesop because their scents are so lovely—Geranium Leaf is an easy one that many people like. And for a nice box of toothpaste, Marvis Amarelli Licorice is yummy and unexpected.” —Alison Pincus, One Kings Lane co-founder

6. “I always provide a basket of sundries from mouthwash to a razor. And I have a collection of stationery from hotels around the world that I’ll put in the room as a fun, novel way for guests to write notes to their friends and family. Finally, I’ll spritz the room with a lavender linen spray and put out a bottle of Perrier so it feels like a little French hotel.” —
Mary McDonald, designer

7. “I’m a huge fan of sneaking out in the morning to get good pastries, fruit, and coffee and setting up a nice breakfast with pretty napkins and juice glasses.” —Day Kornbluth, One Kings Lane vice president of merchandising
