WEDNESDAY WORDS

I saw this quote and instantly fell in love. I'm 31 & Ive made many mistakes. I have lots of years to go so I can only imagine what mistakes will be ahead. Good times came as did the bad. But all in all, I'm proud of where I am today. No one is perfect ,but striving for the best in me has made me happy. I’ve come to a place in life where I am truly happy in all aspects of my life – there is so much room for improvement in all that I do - But today, I just want to share with you a few of my personal tools that have worked for me and my personal growth.

Travel. Travel. Travel. The world is really a beautiful place.

Keep a journalJot down your goods write your bads. Its you own personal blog, an outlet for your emotions.

Stop your complaining. Where does it get you? Keep the negative out. If you have the energy to open your mouth and complain, you should use that energy to do something about it.
Learn. Learn a new language. Learn a new hobby. Go back to school and Learn. Exercise your mind constantly.

Be Passionate in all you do, if your heart isn’t in it – ultimately it shows

Finish what you started.

Cell phones away! Try to eat dinner without looking at your phone and actually spend quality time with your dinner mates. Social Networking can wait.

Budget. Watch where you money goes and think before you spend. Make smart money choices today for a better tomorrow

Stop eating processed foods. Reduce your salt, sugar and fat intake. Make room for more color on your plate.

Don’t compare yourself to anyone. Love who you are and what you have.

Associate with those who support and inspire you

To me, it’s the little things that have made the biggest difference. We all have our own journeys & we will all make mistakes along the way.

Try Looking at it this way..... would your old self be proud of the "you" today?

JE T'AIME

Music to get you in the french mood.....

Effortless. Timeless. Radiating Confidence. Slightly messy but yet so refined. Alluring. Elusive & uncontrived - just some words to describe the “French” look. Parisians have a certain how does one say “Je ne sais quoi”...... & to me -  undoubtedly the most beautiful and effortlessly dressed women.

Here are some ways you can bring the French out of you! Ooh lala!

1.       Negligee….meaning “neglected”.  Rough your hair after its been styled to give you the perfect “bed Head” look.  The French do not like heavy makeup. Moisturized healthy skin is sexier than any face full of foundation. Try a Tinted moisturizer, dab on lipstick with your finger and use the same color for your cheeks. Dress it up with a a gorgeous cat eyeliner & Voila! Easy, simple and sexy.
2.      Chic Casual Style – Dress in outfits that work for your body and always add a scarf. Choose neutrals over rainbows. The French favor black, greys, a rich champagne color, soft rose colors and creams. Go for a gorgeous knit, silk or cashmere fabric, never look sloppy – comfortable and confident is key. Swap tennis sneakers for flats, jeans for fitted black capri leggings and instead of a puffy jacket wear a blazer. Swap out your shorts and tank for a summer dress and with a gorgeous cardigan and ankle boots.

Here are some of the key pieces to keep in mind when going Parisian. This look is one any fashionista can afford – suitable for any budget.  Happy wallet Happy You! Look through your closet, I'm sure you already have most of these pieces. If your short on cash, try the local 2nd hand store for a trench and blazer, they usually have great finds!

    • Trench Coat
    • Black Cotton Dress
    • Stripped Sweater (cliché but key)
    • Flat Ballet Slippers
    • Cat eye sunglasses
    • Tan Skinny Belt
    • Blazer
    • Skinny Jeans (rolled up slightly)
    • Ankle Booties
    • Invest in a good leather bomber

WEEKEND REVIEW

As I entered the PowerPilates Studio (midtown location) I was immediately greeted with a warm smile from my friend Marie Martino & Juan Estrada

But first lets go back…. Many moons ago I tried Pilates at my local gym due to all the rave in the dance community. My first experience with pilates was nothing to rave about.... within minutes I might have fallen asleep on the mat. No, I'm not joking. I wasn’t challenged, the moves were nothing compared to my extensive ballet training. I left mid class promising myself I would never return. EVER!

Well, all that changed! This past Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of taking an awesome pilates class with Juan Estrada of PowerPilates.

Juan and class

My friend and fellow fit lifestyle coach, Marie Martino, invited me to join her at her Pilates studio and take Juan's class. I jumped when she asked due to the fact that she is in obvious tip top shape and hearing of her life changing fitness story - how could I resist!

*Love at first pump (of the arms). I was surrounded by several (extremely fit women) and I instantly had a feeling this class was nothing to snore about.

Within the first few minutes my first layer of clothes came off and my breath got shorter. My core was immediately engaged and burning…. & I wanted more.

Each move Juan calmly instructed us to perform was followed up by him closely monitoring our form and technique  - it truly felt like a personal training session. Juan gave clear directions throughout each movement, talking and encouraging us throughout the entire class.  His knowledge and style of teaching inspired me through each stretch and teaser.

Nearing the end of the class, as I was holding onto my plank and my body was shaking, I didn't want to release out of the movement. I did not want the class to end..... Juan's class left me wanting more. I left  feeling stronger, longer and both mentally and physically ready for the day.

A HUGE thank you to Juan for his inspiring class and a personal thank you from my abs - I woke up with a sore core :)

Juan & Marie at PowerPilates (Midtown) was exactly what I needed to change my way of thinking about Pilates. I will be seeing more of this place and I hope you come along for the ride.

Class Schedule to follow shortly......
